FREE OPEN DAY

17 February 2018

PLEASE NOTE: There has been a CHANGE to the DATE

If you would like to check out the Mud and Wood House (runner up on RTE's Home of the Year 2015) in person and meet up with Féile and Colin, who designed and built it, then come along for a chat and a cup of tea between 11:00am and 4:30 pm on Saturday, 17th February.

There is no need to book. Colin and Féile will be happy to show you around and tell you about some of the insights they gained from self-building using natural materials. If you would like to get more information on any of Mud and Wood's upcoming courses, this is a great opporunity to do just that.

Scroll down for directions to the house.

No early or late arrivals, please.

GPS Coordinates: 54.235638, -8.769543

Dublin to Ballysadare
Take the M4 towards Sligo. Follow the N4 to the Collooney Roundabout. Take the first exit (left) off Collooney Roundabout. Immediately take the first right, signposted for Ballysadare.  Follow the road to the small roundabout in Ballysadare. Go straight through the small roundabout, signposted for Ballina (N59).

Galway to Ballysadare
Take the N17 towards Sligo. At the Toberbride Roundabout, take the first exit (left) on to the N4 towards Sligo town. At the next roundabout (Collooney), take the first exit (left). Immediately take the first right, signposted for Ballysadare. Follow the road to the small roundabout in Ballysadare. Go straight through the small roundabout, signposted for Ballina (N59).

Belfast to Ballysadare
Follow the M1 in the direction of Craigavon until it picks up the A4, direction Enniskillen. Sligo is signposted in Enniskillen. At the border, the road changes into the N16, taking you through Manorhamilton to Sligo. In Sligo, follow signs for N4 Dublin. Exit the N4 at Ballysadare. Drive through Ballysadare, crossing the bridge. At the small roundabout, take the last exit (right) following the signposts for Ballina (N59).

Ballysadare to Grange Beg, Skreen
Follow the N59 for approximately 11 miles/18km, through Beltra, Dromard and Skreen. About 2 miles/3km after Skreen Church, keep an eye out for Skreen Farmers Co-op Yard (Homeland) on the right and the Village 3 Café on the left. We are the second left turn after the co-op and the café. There are 2 small white signposts at the turn – L2303. (There is also another road close by named L2303, but this is signposted with large tourist brown signs to the Ox Mountains. This is not our road). It is easy to miss our turn, so keep a sharp eye out for a house on the right hand side of the N59 with no chimney. This house is exactly opposite our left turn. We are approximately 300m up this lane on the right hand side.

Ballina to Grange Beg, Skreen
Take the N59 out of Ballina, in the direction of Sligo. After approximately 14 miles/23km you will pass through the village of Dromore West. Very shortly you will pass through Templeboy, which has a church on the right hand side of the road. After passing the church, you will drive through a sign-posted crossroads. Our turn is the 2nd signposted right turn after the crossroads. There are 2 small white signposts at the turn – L2303. (There is also another road close by named L2303, but this is signposted with large tourist brown signs to the Ox Mountains. This is not our road). A good marker for the turn is a house with no chimney on the left hand side of the N59. This house is exactly opposite our turn. If you pass Skreen Farmers Co-op Yard (Homeland) on the left and the Village 3 Café on the right, you have missed our turn and driven too far. We are approximately 300m up this lane on the right hand side.
