Weekend Build A Partition/Hang A Door -
How to build an internal partition, door frame & door

On this 2 day course, you will get to construct a simple stud partition, build a door frame and learn how to deal with structural openings which are off-plumb. You will hang a door, learning many handy tips and tricks of the trade along the way, including how to fit handles and latches to your door. Colin will look at different door types, their strengths and weaknesses and demonstrate how to make simple doors from scratch.

The course will be taught by Colin Ritchie, carpenter and earth-builder, in the grounds of his earth-and-timber-frame house, completed in 2011. A tour of the house, looking at the natural-edge doors and door frames, will form part of the course.

What to Bring:

This is a very practical hands-on course with some workshops taking place outdoors. Bring good waterproof clothes and footwear.

Bring a notebook and pen for theory. A hardback notebook or a clipboard is advisable if you want to take notes during outdoor workshops.

If you have them - bring a hammer, saw, measuring tape, screwdriver, spirit level and pencils. We have extra tools on site, but if you have your own, you will not have to wait around to use tools.

• 100% refundable up to 4 weeks prior to course start date, minus administration fee of €20.
• 50% refundable up to 2 weeks prior to course start date, plus administration fee of €20.
• No refunds for cancellations within 2 weeks of course start date.
